Senior DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain features that improve system functionality.

• Act as a highly technical advisor for the business team in adopting features created by the engineering teams.

• Facilitate effortless scalability of production infrastructure while proactively addressing growth challenges.

• Design, implement, and oversee scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, and Confluent Kafka.

• Work alongside software development teams to create efficient CI/CD pipelines and automate application deployments.

• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure cloud infrastructure health, performance, and security.

• Optimize the Kafka message broker for an event-driven architecture and improve system performance.

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

• Ensure cloud infrastructure and application security by following best practices and current threat mitigation strategies.

• Diagnose and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and application issues alongside developers.

• Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure, deployment, and troubleshooting processes.

• Stay updated with advancements in cloud, Kubernetes, and DevOps, and suggest infrastructure enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of practical experience as a DevOps Engineer, with a strong emphasis on cloud infrastructure.

• Expertise in streaming data and designing distributed systems utilizing asynchronous message brokers like Kafka.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Deployment Manager.

• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

• Strong communication and collaborative skills.

• Experience in designing and managing cloud infrastructure on GCP, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and IAM.

• Proficient in managing Kubernetes deployments, including monitoring, scaling, and troubleshooting.

• Experience in maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GCP and GitHub Actions.

• Understanding of Kafka components, including Zookeeper and Brokers, alongside optimization of Kafka client applications (Producers/Consumers).

• Proficient in YAML and capable of writing structured configuration files for infrastructure management and application deployment.

• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Shell.

• Strong grasp of containerization and orchestration concepts.

• Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance standards.
