This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and assist in securing scalable application modules utilizing Java and Thymeleaf.
• Employ AI conversion tools and manual methods to transition legacy PowerBuilder modules to a modern Java-based codebase.
• Collaborate with customer teams to assess technical specifications, facilitate smooth testing, and deliver high-quality code.
• Offer expert insights to enhance application performance, reliability, and security.
• Engage in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Document technical processes and solutions effectively.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend systems.
• Operate within Agile SDLC two- to three-week sprints, participate in daily scrums, and monitor progress in sprint software.
• Mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, oversee branch strategy, and uphold team code quality.
• Function within a DevSecOps delivery model.
• Assist in maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, scanning, and deploying code.
• Address findings from automated security tools and remediate vulnerabilities within set timeframes.
• Create automated unit and integration tests to support continuous delivery and maintain coverage thresholds.
• Implement secure coding practices in accordance with OWASP guidance and applicable DoD requirements, including relevant STIGs.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust/NACI position.
• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Active/current 8140 IAT II certification is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
• Expert proficiency and hands-on experience in building applications using Java.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, data structures, and backend best practices.
• Proficient with Thymeleaf and various Thymeleaf modules.
• Practical experience with the Spring Boot framework.
• In-depth knowledge of microservices architecture and design principles.
• Expertise in cloud-native architectures, application refactoring, database migration, and SaaS integration.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline, Ansible, and JFrog Artifactory.
• Understanding of Git/Gitbash, Git etiquette, and branching strategies.
• Desired, but not required: experience in Agile environments, PowerBuilder, remote team collaboration, DoD or USAF, AI code-conversion tools, and Agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
