Senior Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and enhance Front’s design system utilizing Figma, Storybook, and production code.

• Create, refactor, and uphold reusable, accessible, and well-documented UI components.

• Recognize and minimize design/code discrepancies across component libraries, legacy UI patterns, and the Figma system.

• Set up patterns, conventions, and guidelines to improve consistency, accessibility, maintainability, and developer experience.

• Develop prototypes for interaction patterns and reference implementations in code.

• Collaborate with Product Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers on complex workflows, edge cases, and enterprise-grade product experiences.

• Thoughtfully leverage AI tools to expedite prototyping, iteration, production modifications, and system upkeep.

• Impact Product, Design, and Engineering teams as a proactive senior individual contributor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in designing and creating production frontend experiences, preferably in complex B2B SaaS, enterprise software, developer tools, or similarly intricate product domains.

• Proficient frontend engineering skills with modern web technologies and component-based architecture.

• Ability to quickly adapt to a large, established codebase.

• Exceptional UI/UX craftsmanship and a strong sense of product aesthetics.

• Experience in building or maintaining component libraries, Storybook documentation, visual regression workflows, design-token pipelines, Figma workflows/plugins, or similar design-engineering infrastructures.

• Solid understanding of accessibility fundamentals, including semantic HTML, ARIA patterns, keyboard interaction models, focus management, and inclusive component states.

• Excellent communication skills.

• A portfolio or body of work demonstrating delivered design-engineering impact.

• Experience working on products with a significant existing frontend surface area, multiple product teams, and a mature or evolving design system.

• Background in customer support, customer operations, collaboration software, internal tools, developer tools, or other workflow-heavy SaaS products.

• Experience in consolidating fragmented component libraries or aligning Figma libraries with production code.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding or design tools to accelerate prototyping, refactoring, and product iteration.
