This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +2 more states.
β’ Develop intricate actuators, specialized igniters, pressure vessels, solid rocket motor systems, hot gas valves, and rocket thrusters.
β’ Perform actuator performance evaluations, trade-off analyses, simulations, and structural, dynamic, and thermal analyses.
β’ Generate sophisticated 2D and 3D CAD models along with detailed technical drawings.
β’ Interpret GD&T symbols and offer guidance on dimensional and tolerance specifications.
β’ Characterize materials such as ceramics, insulators, refractory metals, and advanced metals.
β’ Enhance designs, choose manufacturing materials and processes, and define quality-control measures including NDT methods.
β’ Oversee assembly, composite fabrication, machining, molding, casting, and welding operations.
β’ Create and implement testing protocols, including component integration, measurement instrumentation, calibration, test-data acquisition, statistical analysis, and visualization.
β’ Conduct mass estimations, requirements assessments, risk management, failure-mode analyses, and reliability and safety planning.
β’ Assist in procurement, vendor assessments, supplier performance evaluations, contract management, and scheduling management.
β’ Analyze grain design, propellant chemistry, combustion, internal ballistics, and solid propellant manufacturing processes.
β’ Design fundamental control systems and engage in avionics, ignition, wiring-harness, circuit-board, and software design initiatives.
β’ Must be able to obtain and retain a U.S. security clearance.
β’ Possess ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in mechanical engineering.
β’ A Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university is required; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
β’ Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, a protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to secure required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR.
β’ Experience in rocket motor design and testing is preferred.
β’ A Master of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering field is preferred.
β’ Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
