Senior Database Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide engineering and integration support for the Veterans Affairs Independent Enterprise Testing Support Services contract.

• Collaborate with VA VistA, Oracle Health/Cerner Millennium, and various electronic health record systems.

• Assess, implement, test, and oversee technology solutions.

• Formulate and execute architectural strategies, feasibility studies, and integration analyses.

• Collect and define architecture requirements while ensuring compliance with IT organization and project standards.

• Examine application architecture and conduct risk assessments.

• Establish suitable architecture for testing environments.

• Capture, publish, and maintain architecture artifacts utilizing organizational architecture tools and repositories.

• Compose client deliverable analysis reports.

• Engage in collaborative discussions with VA customers, contract teammates, VA project teams, and other stakeholders.

• Manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities while working independently.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related field.

• An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered if other criteria are satisfied.

• At least 10 years of comprehensive information technology experience.

• Software engineering experience, including development, integration, architecture analysis, and testing integration among applications, databases, and external applications.

• Experience with Oracle or SQL Server in UNIX/VMS/Windows environments.

• Proficiency in Python script development.

• Experience in creating Python-based websites.

• Familiarity with network protocols.

• Experience in database development.

• Proficient in designing and generating test cases.

• Experience with system integration involving external components.

• Understanding of system architecture.

• Capability to evaluate, implement, test, and manage technology solutions.

• Ability to formulate and execute architecture strategies, feasibility studies, and integration analyses.

• Skill in independently gathering and defining architecture requirements.

• Ability to ensure architectures are in compliance with IT organization and project standards.

• Competence in analyzing application architecture, conducting risk assessments, and establishing architecture for testing environments.

• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

• Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.

• Capability to write effective client deliverable analysis reports with minimal supervision.

• Proficient in using established architecture tools, repositories, and repository management processes.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Strong customer service skills.

• Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

• Must obtain a Government-granted Security clearance.
