This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients by proactively identifying performance, availability, and security risks prior to incidents.
• Provide guidance to clients on cloud database architecture, migration, and cost optimization within AWS and Azure IaaS and PaaS environments.
• Spearhead architecture design, disaster recovery planning, and capacity forecasting initiatives.
• Manage the complete database service lifecycle, encompassing backup strategies, HA/DR configurations, proactive tuning, and platform roadmap development.
• Establish and monitor database availability and performance SLOs.
• Initiate automated remediation for recurring failure patterns.
• Conduct root-cause analyses and post-incident reviews, transforming findings into automation or process enhancements.
• Design and implement scalable database architectures, partitioning strategies, and audit specifications.
• Create and manage deployment and rollback scripts.
• Oversee version updates across different environments.
• Develop Python and PowerShell automation for backup validation, monitoring, alerting, and reporting integrations, such as Power BI.
• Migrate and provide support for SSIS packages and SSAS cubes.
• Create stored procedures for reporting purposes.
• Collaborate directly with client technical teams and executive stakeholders to interpret technical insights into business recommendations.
• Serve as the Primary DBA for one or more clients and lead service delivery within Datavail’s multi-tiered managed-services framework.
• Senior-level SQL Server expertise / SQL Server DBA experience.
• Proficient in T-SQL query optimization, including execution plans, parameter sniffing, statistics/cardinality issues, and Query Store-based tuning.
• Experience in rewriting and refactoring stored procedures and T-SQL code to enhance performance.
• Skilled in designing and maintaining clustered, nonclustered, covering, and columnstore indexes.
• Capable of diagnosing performance issues through root-cause analysis using wait-stats and isolating CPU/memory/I-O bottlenecks.
• Experience in addressing tempdb contention, blocking, and deadlocks.
• Hands-on optimization experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and AWS RDS for SQL Server.
• Familiarity with Azure and AWS cloud database architecture, migration, and cost optimization across IaaS and PaaS.
• Experience with performance baselining and proactive monitoring.
• Proven track record in leading architecture design, disaster recovery planning, and capacity forecasting.
• Background in backup strategy, HA/DR configuration, database tuning, and platform roadmap development.
• Proficient in defining and monitoring database availability and performance SLOs.
• Experience in conducting root-cause analysis and post-incident assessments.
• Skilled in designing scalable database structures, partitioning strategies, and audit specifications.
• Proficient in developing deployment/rollback scripts and managing version updates.
• Experience with Python and PowerShell automation.
• Familiarity with SSIS packages, SSAS cubes, creating stored procedures for reporting, and integrating with Power BI.
• Ability to work collaboratively with client technical teams and executive stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically within the US.
