This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee database management for both on-premises and cloud environments.
• Develop and implement disaster recovery, failover, and backup strategies.
• Conduct advanced performance tuning and resource optimization for databases.
• Guide and mentor Database Administrators while providing technical support.
• Plan and carry out database upgrades, patches, and vulnerability management.
• Create and maintain SQL procedures, views, and scripts for production and reporting systems.
• Collaborate with system administrators, engineers, architects, and various teams on capacity planning and scalability efforts.
• Resolve complex database issues and lead incident resolution processes.
• Take part in strategic planning and product development discussions.
• Work closely with architects on database establishment and ongoing maintenance.
• Recommend database technologies and work to minimize technical debt.
• Ensure audit compliance and develop database standards.
• Engage with stakeholders, senior leadership, customers, and other departments.
• Facilitate team meetings, planning sessions, and requirements discussions.
• Assign tasks and drive results for junior team members.
• Foster cross-functional relationships and assist in solution design.
• Monitor work progress among associates and engineers, prioritizing tasks with minimal supervision.
• Identify vulnerabilities and organize the scheduling of upgrades and patches.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
• Proficient in managing RDBMS and cloud databases.
• Extensive background in database performance tuning, disaster recovery, and failover strategies.
• Proven track record of leading and mentoring teams as well as managing database projects.
• Strong skills in SQL, database automation, and scripting related to database administration tasks.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services, especially within the Azure ecosystem.
• Excellent communication skills with a capacity to provide technical leadership and guidance.
• Understanding of infrastructure design, methods and standards, and change management principles.
• Demonstrated knowledge of UNIX/LINUX systems, shell scripting, automation, agile development, product management, and bug tracking tools.
• Capability to execute upgrades and patches effectively.
• Project management skills and experience collaborating with agile development teams.
• Understanding of relative estimation techniques.
• Adaptability to quickly change priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in operating computer programs and software.
• Effective communication skills, both in-person and electronically.
• Ability to make independent decisions.
• Capacity to work closely with peers and manage varying interruptions.
• Willingness to travel 1–20% within the United States.
