This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Administer and provide support for Oracle databases within production enterprise environments.
• Provision, configure, and maintain Oracle database setups.
• Execute activities related to database backup, recovery, and restoration.
• Assist with Oracle RMAN backup and recovery operations.
• Support Oracle Grid as well as High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) environments.
• Plan and carry out database maintenance and patching tasks.
• Monitor the availability, capacity, performance, and overall health of the database systems.
• Troubleshoot database incidents and determine root causes.
• Perform performance tuning for databases and SQL leveraging system metrics.
• Implement and test database failover and disaster recovery strategies.
• Create scripts and automation processes to enhance routine DBA tasks.
• Ensure database security, encryption, auditing, and access controls are maintained.
• Address ServiceNow incidents, requests, and Requests for Change (RFCs).
• Assist with SQL/Oracle database development and application integration efforts.
• Collaborate with senior DBAs, infrastructure teams, application teams, and customer personnel.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to weekly activity reports.
• Participate in scheduled after-hours database maintenance tasks as necessary.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in database administration.
• Practical experience with Oracle database administration.
• Familiarity with Oracle Database.
• Proficient in Oracle RMAN.
• Knowledge of Oracle Grid.
• Experience with PL/SQL.
• Background in backup and recovery processes.
• Experience with database patching.
• Skills in performance tuning.
• Proficient in monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
• Experience with High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR).
• Understanding of database security measures.
• Experience in scripting and automation.
• Proven troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within technical teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Oracle professional certification is desirable.
• Prior experience in federal government IT is preferred.
• Familiarity with OCI/cloud database platforms is a plus.
• Experience with ServiceNow is beneficial.
• Experience with SolarWinds and/or Idera is preferred.
• Exposure to SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MS Access is advantageous.
