This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Respond to automated alerts, failures, incidents, and client requests as they arise.
• Clearly and effectively communicate with clients.
• Record and detail the work completed in various tasks.
• Act as an individual contributor within the DBA team.
• Enhance service through automation and process improvements.
• Assist teammates in reaching team objectives.
• Continuously expand knowledge of data technologies.
• Install, configure, patch, and migrate Microsoft SQL Server instances.
• Design, implement, troubleshoot, and rectify SQL Server HA/DR topologies, including log shipping, replication, AlwaysOn availability groups, and failover clustering.
• Organize client brainstorming sessions to review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and requirements.
• Manage database backup and recovery, access security and integrity, as well as physical data storage design and administration.
• Oversee database security and auditing.
• Develop, modify, and enhance SQL Server Agent tasks and maintenance plans.
• Monitor SQL Server maintenance tasks and resolve any failed processes.
• Write and optimize TSQL.
• Generate reports, monitoring, and alerts to support client needs.
• Diagnose and resolve server, database, and query performance issues, including application slowdowns.
• Address anti-best practices in database design.
• Manage VLDBs, database partitioning, and data compression.
• Implement Resource Governor, CDC, and Distributed Availability Groups.
• Report to the Associate Director of Database.
• 8+ years of experience with MS SQL Server.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Azure SQL DB, and AWS RDS administration is a plus.
• Extensive background in designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and resolving various HA/DR topologies, with a focus on Transactional Replication and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
• Significant experience in managing server, database, and query performance issues.
• Practical experience in writing and optimizing TSQL.
• Relevant formal education in databases or DBA certification.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Solid understanding of database platforms within an enterprise infrastructure, along with the capability to utilize database administration tools.
• Industry certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or DP-300 are advantageous.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Familiarity with Change Management and ITIL processes.
• Capacity to provide timely and informative follow-ups to end-users.
• Proficient in prioritizing and organizing competing work demands with minimal oversight.
