This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Administer and uphold database systems that support AAO applications.
• Modernize and enhance business solutions for NASA.
• Collaborate with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL platforms.
• Install, configure, upgrade, migrate, provision, secure, and apply patches to enterprise database systems.
• Execute database backup and recovery procedures.
• Support high-availability and disaster recovery architectures for databases.
• Work across various platforms, applications, and infrastructure throughout the Agency.
• Engage with stakeholders and end-user communities of Enterprise Applications.
• Collaborate with fellow DBAs to diagnose and resolve intricate database issues.
• Participate in an on-call DBA rotation and address trouble tickets in accordance with SLA requirements.
• Comprehensive understanding of database design, development, and integration principles.
• Basic knowledge of best practices and techniques in database administration.
• Experience in managing mission-critical database systems.
• Familiarity with ANSI Standard SQL constructs pertinent to Database Administration.
• Proficient in installing, configuring, upgrading, migrating, provisioning, securing, patching, backing up, and recovering enterprise database systems.
• Conceptual understanding of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) database architectures.
• Good grasp of networking concepts and principles within a client/server database environment.
• Experience with Unix, PowerShell, or other scripting languages.
• Strong communication, presentation, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
• Flexible scheduling to support on-call DBA rotation and respond to trouble tickets within SLA requirements.
• Preferred experience with databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL in single-instance or clustered configurations.
• Experience in configuring and supporting MS SQL Availability Groups (AGs), Distributed Availability Groups (DAGs), Oracle Data Guard, and MySQL master-slave replication.
• Proven experience with Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and MS T-SQL.
• Familiarity with tools like Oracle SQL Developer, TOAD, MS SQL Workbench, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) is advantageous.
• Knowledge of configuring Oracle Net Services.
• Familiarity and/or experience with Oracle RMAN, DataPump, and Data Guard.
• Experience with Red Hat Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems on VMware.
• Understanding of database consolidation and virtualization concepts and best practices.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NASA Public Trust background investigation.
• Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
• 6–8 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
• Automation experience using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files.
• Experience working within VMware ESXi environments.
• Familiarity with network storage solutions (SAN/NAS).
