Senior DBA, Database Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance real-time databases and data systems to ensure optimal performance, quality, and scalability.

• Tune, productionize, and refine data systems as well as machine learning models.

• Take ownership of features from concept to deployment.

• Drive significant product features as the primary developer in collaboration with architects, backend developers, or analysts.

• Mentor and assist junior engineers through design reviews and pair programming sessions.

• Provide technical leadership during architecture and design discussions.

• Promote simple, elegant, and practical solutions.

• Manage a balance between new development initiatives and technical debt.

• Advocate for best practices in quality, security, and operations, including CI/CD, monitoring, and compliance with privacy regulations.

• Develop software for healthcare, fintech, SaaS commerce, and various other client projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in database engineering or administration.

• Profound knowledge of SQL, relational databases, data modeling, and transactional design.

• Practical experience with ETL pipelines and data warehouses.

• Proven capability to design efficient schemas and optimize queries for high-scale, high-volume environments.

• A quality-driven approach that includes unit tests, integration tests, automation, and defensive programming.

• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities.

• Proficiency in designing before coding, utilizing clear diagrams, early validation of assumptions, and analysis of edge cases and trade-offs.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
