This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Perform statistical and mathematical analyses to facilitate informed business decision-making.
• Support AI/ML in a live production setting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to comprehend business and domain contexts for ML opportunities.
• Present data science solutions to stakeholders in an iterative manner.
• Assist in transforming business challenges into ML problems.
• Investigate data sources, clean data, conduct feature engineering, and develop baseline models.
• Independently oversee multiple projects related to data science model development.
• Work closely with stakeholders, including product management teams.
• Manage the model development process from inception to implementation, including ML pipelines, documentation, model drift, and strategies for remodeling.
• Mentor Associate Data Scientists and Data Scientists.
• Coordinate with the ML team on deployment challenges, resource needs, deployment processes, and model retraining.
• Manage or delegate critical tickets and issues from stakeholders.
• Navigate extensive codebases for troubleshooting, debugging, and enhancements.
• Contribute to and uphold coding standards and conventions.
• Create and maintain documentation for ML models, data sources, and methodologies.
• Assist in the development of feasibility documents.
• Participate in R&D and implement process improvements or new methodologies.
• Share knowledge through internal presentations and workshops.
• Guide the implementation of Scrum, Kanban, and other development methodologies, including features, tasks, effort estimates, and timelines.
• Master’s degree in data science, mathematics, computer science, statistics, or a related field with 3+ years of experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience in data science.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Advanced understanding of classification, regression, clustering, dimensionality reduction, association rule learning, bagging, boosting, neural networks, deep learning, model evaluation and metrics, cross-validation, hyperparameter tuning, optimization algorithms, NLP, and more.
• Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM methodologies with 1–2 years of practical experience.
• Intellectual curiosity about the latest advancements, including LLM/Generative AI models.
• Ability to foresee deployment challenges, data latency issues, algorithm suitability, and mathematical assumptions.
• At least 1+ year of experience working with a major cloud platform and developing ML models from data exploration to deployment.
• Proficiency in managing large datasets within a cloud environment.
• Working knowledge of APIs and CI/CD processes.
• Understanding of DevOps and MLOps principles.
• 1+ year of experience writing production-grade code in Bash, Python, and SQL.
• Ability to identify code improvements, select suitable data structures, optimize code, and create custom code.
• Proven capability to independently navigate a data lake environment while creating training datasets or feature stores.
• Skills in creating, deploying, and troubleshooting containers for ML modeling.
• 1+ year of experience with version control systems/concepts such as Git.
• Ability to investigate and research ML frameworks, algorithms, datasets, and feature stores.
• Capability to provide macro-level thought leadership to junior Data Scientists.
• Must be able to work remotely from anywhere in the United States, excluding Hawaii and U.S. territories.
