This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deliver machine learning systems for AI/ML applications in both defense and commercial sectors.

• Take ownership of data science projects from inception to completion, encompassing problem definition, data gathering, modeling, assessment, deployment, and monitoring.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to build and enhance production machine learning pipelines.

• Create data collection methods, features, automated testing processes, and deployment strategies.

• Convert broad research goals into clearly defined problems and create experiments to evaluate and refine solutions.

• Track performance of deployed models for drift and degradation, implementing retraining or redesign as necessary.

• Provide mentorship to junior data scientists through code reviews, design discussions, and collaborative work.

• Present methodologies and outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers and leadership.


⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory due to Department of Defense contract stipulations.

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a role such as data scientist, machine learning engineer, or equivalent applied research position.

• Significant experience with at least two different data domains, including computer vision, time-series analysis, geospatial data, natural language processing (NLP), structured/tabular data, graph data, signal processing, or audio.

• Proven experience on a team responsible for the entire ML pipeline, including data collection and annotation, feature and model development, testing, deployment, and monitoring post-deployment.

• Proficient programming skills in Python and associated scientific libraries: NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, along with at least one deep learning framework like PyTorch or TensorFlow.

• Familiarity with MLOps tools, including experiment tracking, model registries, feature stores, CI/CD for ML, containerization, and orchestration.

• Comfortable with software engineering practices, such as version control, code reviews, testing, and creating reproducible environments.

• A graduate degree (MS or PhD) in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering, or a similar discipline; equivalent professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

• Submission of a resume/CV, cover letter, and three professional references is required; one reference must be from a current or former supervisor.
