This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Strategize, coordinate, and supervise enterprise data migration, conversion, and archival projects.
• Create migration strategies, timelines, dependencies, and execution protocols.
• Develop and maintain migration scripts, SQL, and ETL/ELT pipelines for transitioning data from legacy systems to the cloud.
• Perform extraction, transformation, loading, and validation processes post-load.
• Conduct data profiling, cleansing, mapping, and transformation tasks.
• Ensure the integrity of migrated data through reconciliation, completeness assessments, and quality assurance testing.
• Oversee cutover activities, including preparatory checks, execution, validation, and final sign-off.
• Automate the processes for data reconciliation and validation.
• Assist in migration testing, mock executions, rehearsals, cutovers, and rollback strategies.
• Design and establish data archival processes in compliance with retention and governance standards.
• Resolve migration challenges and discrepancies.
• Document migration processes, mappings, runbooks, logs, issue registries, and execution reports.
• Collaborate with governance, quality assurance, business, DBA, platform engineering, architecture, application, and data teams.
• Fine-tune migration jobs and enhance performance for large-scale, high-volume data sets.
• Ensure adherence to security, privacy, classification, retention, and governance standards.
• Provide support during production cutovers and the stabilization phase post-migration.
• Manage and optimize cloud data platforms, including account setup, configuration, scaling, performance enhancement, and operations of warehouses/lakehouses.
• Oversee databases, schemas, roles, and RBAC in line with security, IAM, and compliance policies.
• Monitor and troubleshoot pipelines, queries, concurrency issues, and resource utilization.
• Implement cost optimization strategies and assist with financial reporting, forecasting, and TCO analysis.
• Automate and document provisioning, access management, data loading, and monitoring tasks using Terraform, dbt, SQL, Python, or similar tools.
• Collaborate with data engineers, BI teams, and architects to design data models and enhance ELT workflows.
• Support security audits, ATO documentation, incident response, disaster recovery/high availability testing, and operational runbooks.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• MA/MS degree with 5+ years of experience or BS/BA degree with 7+ years of general experience in information systems and 5+ years of specialized experience.
• A strong background in data engineering and architecture, with extensive ETL/ELT and migration expertise.
• Familiarity with Informatica, Talend, AWS DMS, and ADF.
• Proficient in Python, Bash, SQL, and migration automation techniques.
• Expertise in AWS data migration services, cloud-native data platforms, and hybrid cloud scenarios.
• Preferred hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and large-scale analytical tasks.
• Strong SQL performance tuning skills, including query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and execution plan analysis.
• Proficient with Terraform, dbt, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, DevSecOps, and enterprise build/release pipelines.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting complex migration issues within strict cutover timelines.
• Familiarity with containerized application workflows and operations on cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of FedRAMP, NIST, and JISF frameworks.
• Experience in log and metric analysis as well as cloud performance optimization.
• Preferred experience working with Federal Government programs or in regulated environments.
• Experience with FinOps, cost modeling, and cloud optimization strategies.
• Preferred experience in optimizing large-scale analytical workloads.
• Preferred certifications include CDMP, Snowflake SnowPro Advanced, Databricks Certified Data Professional, AWS certifications, Docker Certified Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, DevSecOps, ITIL, AWS SysOps, or Google Cloud DevOps Engineer.
