This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +1 more country.
• Oversee the transition of data workflows from Hadoop/Hive systems to Snowflake.
• Design and establish a scalable Migration Factory to streamline and automate the migration processes.
• Create and enhance Dataiku workflows that support data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and automation.
• Design and sustain reliable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Evaluate current data solutions to identify opportunities for optimization and performance enhancements.
• Implement scalable and high-performing Snowflake architectures, ensuring security, governance, and operational excellence.
• Work collaboratively with Data Architects, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to convert business needs into technical solutions.
• Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and engineering best practices across various projects.
• Relevant academic credentials in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Over 6 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a comparable position.
• Demonstrated experience in executing data migration programs, preferably within Lift & Shift initiatives.
• Strong background in contemporary data warehousing and data platform technologies.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and engaging stakeholders.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Professional proficiency in French.
• Must be a Portuguese or European citizen or possess a work permit for Portugal.
• In-depth expertise with Snowflake, including data modeling, optimization, performance tuning, and security.
• Practical experience with Dataiku or similar tools (Alteryx, Talend, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Knime, Apache NiFi).
• Extensive experience with Hadoop, Hive, and legacy-to-cloud migration initiatives.
• Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, and analytical databases.
• Proficiency in big data frameworks such as Apache Spark or alternatives (Databricks, Flink, Beam).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Nice to have: experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Nice to have: programming experience in Python or Scala.
• Nice to have: knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices related to data engineering.
• Nice to have: understanding of Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Security best practices.
• Nice to have: experience in consulting or client-facing roles.
• Nice to have: exposure to international projects and multicultural teams.
