Senior Data Engineer – Power BI, Azure Synapse Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Burundi, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code utilizing Terraform across Azure and Cloudflare.

• Manage PostgreSQL database operations and automate tasks related to the database.

• Deploy and configure message queues to facilitate data processing and service communication.

• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines employing GitHub Actions.

• Enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and adhere to infrastructure security best practices to ensure compliance.

• Implement and sustain monitoring and observability solutions.

• Identify and resolve infrastructure-related issues while minimizing service interruptions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Power BI: developing semantic models, DAX, report definitions authored as PBIP with .pbix deployment, implementing incremental refresh, query folding, and troubleshooting performance issues (e.g., refresh/XMLA timeouts).

• Azure Synapse expertise: managing notebooks, pipelines, triggers, and workspace, along with source-side query optimization.

• Strong SQL skills for data validation, transformation, and troubleshooting.

• Proficient in PowerShell scripting, including common modules like Az and MicrosoftPowerBIMgmt.

• Familiarity with Azure Functions/function apps and CI/CD deployment processes.

• Experience with Azure DevOps for work item tracking.

• Knowledge of Git/GitHub, including branching and pull requests.

• Senior-level experience is preferred.

• Ability to operate with a high level of autonomy.
