This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Burundi, +1 more country.
• Design, construct, test, deploy, and maintain scalable data pipelines.
• Ingest, transform, validate, and publish both structured and semi-structured data.
• Convert business and product requirements into technical designs, data models, integration patterns, and execution plans.
• Create reusable and maintainable code with a focus on performance, testability, observability, and supportability.
• Develop and optimize batch, event-driven, and serverless data processing patterns.
• Contribute to architectural decisions across data lakes, warehouses, orchestration, metadata, APIs, and application integration patterns.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment workflows, and infrastructure-as-code patterns.
• Collaborate with analytics, BI, product, and business teams on data products and reporting solutions.
• Assess source systems, APIs, files, data contracts, and transformation logic.
• Engage in Agile practices, code reviews, release planning, incident response, and retrospectives.
• Mentor engineers and advocate for engineering best practices.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, data lineage notes, implementation guides, and support materials.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 5 years of practical data engineering experience.
• Proficient in data modeling, data architecture, ETL/ELT patterns, metadata, data quality, and data warehouse or data lake methodologies.
• Practical experience with AWS S3, Lambda, Athena, EMR or EMR Serverless, Glue, Step Functions, SNS, SQS, or similar technologies.
• Strong programming skills in Scala, Java, SQL, or comparable languages.
• Familiarity with Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, Hive, Redshift, Postgres, SingleStore, or similar technologies.
• Experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, source control workflows, automated testing, and deployment practices using GitHub Actions or similar tools.
• Solid understanding of Agile delivery, DevOps practices, incident response, production support, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Equivalent practical experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree.
