Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop, manage, and enhance the contemporary Azure-based data platform.

• Design, construct, and operate comprehensive data solutions utilizing Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.

• Create and sustain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines employing PySpark and Spark.

• Support and administer multi-tenant data platforms across development, testing, and production environments.

• Provision, configure, and maintain the Azure data infrastructure.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data workflows and Databricks tasks.

• Implement Azure best practices to enhance performance and manage costs effectively.

• Collaborate with BI and data teams to facilitate data models and reporting solutions.

• Support data governance requirements, which include access control, secure data handling, and fundamental metadata management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of practical experience with Azure Data Factory, ADLS Gen2, Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.

• Extensive experience in building distributed data processing pipelines using PySpark and Spark.

• Strong grasp of ETL/ELT concepts and data modeling methodologies.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for data workloads and basic deployment automation.

• Proficient SQL skills with experience in optimizing analytical queries.

• Hands-on experience with Parquet and/or Avro.

• Good understanding of Azure resource structure, environments, and operational best practices.

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

• Proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of German is a plus.

• Candidates must be located in a country where Rhenus Overland Transport is already present.
