This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the design and execution of the data platform, encompassing warehouse, replication, orchestration, transformation, and semantic layers.
• Design reliable pipelines from Aurora/RDS and application databases to the warehouse while addressing PII, multi-tenancy, and data residency requirements.
• Manage orchestration and job scheduling infrastructure, ensuring recovery and observability.
• Optimize for query performance and cost by employing query patterns, materialization, incremental models, partitioning, and warehouse tuning.
• Develop data quality checks, automated testing, validation, lineage, documentation, and metadata.
• Establish data modeling, slowly changing dimensions, multi-tenant access controls, and row-level security patterns.
• Collaborate with Engineering on source data contracts, identifying instrumentation gaps, and schema evolution.
• Construct dbt staging-to-mart models and Cube models, along with measures for governed BI and product reporting.
• Implement Cube row-level security and enhance query performance with pre-aggregations, caching, and materialized views.
• Empower analysts and data scientists to extend models, create safe queries, and generate reports.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Customer Operations, GTM, Sales, Finance, analysts, and data scientists in developing data solutions.
• Oversee monitoring, alerting, incident response, post-mortems, deployment workflows, testing frameworks, refresh triggers, and observability.
• Maintain runbooks and onboarding documentation.
• Shape the data platform roadmap and assess real-time, streaming, CDC, catalog, and BI capabilities.
• Align data infrastructure with AWS, Kubernetes, infrastructure, and security patterns.
• Participate in company-wide on-site events three times a year.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, demonstrating increasing ownership of platform architecture, data pipelines, and data quality.
• Proficient in SQL and Python; experience in building production data pipelines using modern data stacks.
• Practical experience with data warehouses such as Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, and dbt.
• Experience in constructing and maintaining data replication pipelines (CDC, DMS, Airbyte, Fivetran, or similar).
• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, data grain, slowly changing dimensions, and data quality methodologies.
• Experience with semantic layers or metrics platforms (Cube, LookML, MetricFlow) and governed metrics in BI tools.
• Familiarity with AWS data services (RDS, S3, Redshift, DMS, Lambda) and infrastructure-as-code, with a preference for Terraform.
• Background working with PII, multi-tenant data, row-level security, and compliance requirements in regulated sectors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
