Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design and implement scalable ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines using Databricks within the Azure cloud environment.

• Model data and create lakehouse architectures, including Delta Lake, the medallion architecture, and dimensional modeling.

• Automate and enhance data flows for improved performance, quality, and stability.

• Integrate and transform data from various sources into data warehouses or lakehouse settings.

• Apply best practices in data governance, monitoring, and security.

• Provide mentorship to junior team members and contribute to the establishment of technical standards.

• Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and consultants to deliver solutions driven by data.

⛳️ Requirements

• A university degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science, or a related area.

• Several years of experience in projects focused on building and managing modern data platforms.

• Strong technical proficiency in Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Python (pandas, PySpark), and SQL.

• Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, including star schemas, Data Vault, and lakehouse architectures.

• Experience in ETL/ELT processes, performance optimization, and workflow orchestration.

• Expertise in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Apache Kafka, or Apache Airflow is a plus.

• Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards.

• Databricks certifications are a beneficial asset.

• An analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach are essential.

• Proficiency in written and spoken German.

• Good command of English.
