Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Facilitate design conversations regarding data architecture, modeling strategies, and the evolution of the platform.

• Discover opportunities to streamline and expand the data platform.

• Lead enhancements in data reliability, observability, and quality.

• Establish and advocate for best practices in data modeling, testing, and code evaluation.

• Assist the team in prioritizing tasks while balancing speed and technical excellence.

• Create and refine ETL processes.

• Integrate data sources across the product suite to deliver essential information to stakeholders.

• Provide mentorship to fellow data engineers.

• Assess how business use cases interconnect and align with the product.

• Identify and proactively share potential future impacts of proposed or ongoing initiatives.

• Assist in resolving issues within the product and its ecosystem.

• Model data and metadata for both ad-hoc and pre-constructed reporting and BI tools.

• Offer technical advice on accessing the data platform.

• Collaborate with engineering to incorporate tracking of new functionalities within the data ecosystem.

• Enhance the performance of critical business queries.

• Clarify decisions regarding project prioritization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in data engineering.

• Familiarity with data warehouses and large-scale analytics systems, such as Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery.

• Strong background in designing and constructing data pipelines and platforms.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure; AWS is preferred.

• Proficient in building and maintaining relational, document, key-value, and other NoSQL databases.

• Advanced skills in Python and SQL.

• Experience integrating data through third-party APIs.

• Background in business process automation.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical discipline or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Experience with Spark and Redshift; PySpark is preferred.

• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.

• Proficient with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform or CloudFormation.

• Experience with event or streaming systems, such as Kafka or similar technologies.

• Knowledge of CI/CD practices.

• Proven experience utilizing AI tools and technologies to enhance workflows, improve decision-making, or foster innovation.

• Ideally located in Brno, Czech Republic.
