This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the architectural design for lakehouse implementations, platform migrations, and modernization initiatives on Databricks, preferably using Azure.
• Create Delta Lake, medallion, and Unity Catalog patterns that balance performance, cost, governance, and time-to-value.
• Take ownership of the technical direction for migrating legacy platforms into the Databricks and Fabric/Power BI ecosystems.
• Establish standards for data ingestion, orchestration, CI/CD, testing, observability, and financial operations (FinOps).
• Architect solutions for AI readiness, which includes feature pipelines, Mosaic AI, model serving, and agentic use cases.
• Participate in discovery calls, conduct architecture workshops, and develop technical solutions for Databricks opportunities.
• Define the scope of engagements and assess Statements of Work (SOWs) for technical precision, risk assessment, and commercial clarity.
• Create reusable accelerators, reference architectures, and playbooks.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for Nimble Gravity with Databricks, engaging in partner program activities, co-selling initiatives, and field collaborations.
• Keep certification current and assist the broader team in enhancing their Databricks credentials.
• Represent Nimble Gravity at client briefings, webinars, and Databricks events.
• Stay informed about Databricks features and the technical roadmap.
• Convert business objectives into actionable technical roadmaps for executive stakeholders.
• Identify delivery risks related to scope gaps, data quality, security, and costs, and recommend solutions.
• Mentor engineering staff and conduct internal training sessions.
• Collaborate with engagement leads and project managers to ensure delivery stays within scope, on schedule, and within budget.
• Assist financial institutions and other clients in embracing AI and transforming emerging technologies into tangible business results.
• Must hold a current Databricks Champion certification in good standing.
• Provide a shareable link to your Databricks credentials wallet displaying all active certifications; credentials will be verified prior to finalizing an offer.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering or data architecture.
• At least 4 years of extensive, hands-on experience with Databricks.
• Demonstrated success in delivering production lakehouse implementations, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows or Lakeflow, and Databricks SQL.
• Strong proficiency in Spark (PySpark and SQL), data modeling, and performance optimization.
• Experience in designing security and governance frameworks, including access controls, data lineage, handling of personally identifiable information (PII), and compliance requirements in regulated sectors.
• Depth of knowledge in cloud platforms, ideally Azure (including ADLS, Entra ID, networking, DevOps), with familiarity in AWS or GCP.
• Ability to engage effectively with clients ranging from technical teams to C-suite executives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred: additional Databricks certifications.
• Preferred: experience with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
• Preferred: familiarity with MLflow, Mosaic AI, and GenAI or agentic workloads.
• Preferred: experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices for data platforms.
• Preferred: background in consulting or professional services, including scoping, estimation, and contributions to SOWs.
