Senior Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Examine legacy systems and authoritative data sources to gain insight into current data structures, relationships, business rules, data flows, interfaces, and dependencies.

• Create and document conceptual, logical, and physical data models, which encompass relational structures, data dictionaries, source-to-target mappings, and data lineage.

• Assist in the development of a unified data model across various source systems.

• Discover opportunities for standardizing data structures, definitions, relationships, and business rules.

• Collaborate with development teams to translate approved data models into physical database structures.

• Facilitate data integration, ETL/ELT, migration, validation, reconciliation, and data quality tasks within SQL and Azure environments.

• Create and maintain database views, standardized datasets, and other data structures utilized by applications, Power BI, Power Platform, interfaces, and analytical solutions.

• Work together with technical and functional stakeholders to validate model designs and implemented solutions.

• Record decisions and dependencies.

• Communicate data-related risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Architecture, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field is preferred.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in database architecture, data modeling, data engineering, systems integration, or a related technical field.

• At least 5 years of experience in a data architect, database architect, lead data modeler, or technical lead role in a complex enterprise environment.

• Advanced expertise with Microsoft SQL Server, encompassing relational database design, stored procedures, views, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.

• Proven experience in developing logical and physical data models, entity-relationship diagrams, data dictionaries, source-to-target mappings, and transformation specifications.

• Experience in designing ETL/ELT workflows, automated validation, reconciliation, exception handling, and data-quality controls.

• Familiarity with Azure data and integration services, APIs, cloud technologies, or comparable enterprise integration platforms.

• Experience supporting data utilized by reporting tools, business applications, analytical platforms, or the capabilities of Microsoft Power Platform.

• Strong skills in technical writing, coordination, briefing, and stakeholder engagement.

• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Ability to pass and maintain necessary background checks and system access.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting federal, defense, or other regulated enterprise environments.

• Preferred: Experience in modernizing legacy systems with overlapping data, business rules, interfaces, and operational dependencies.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Azure API Management, Azure Service Bus, Logic Apps, Dataverse, or similar integration and orchestration technologies.

• Preferred: Awareness of data governance, cybersecurity, configuration management, change control, and release management processes.

• Preferred: Experience with Jira or similar tools for managing technical backlogs, dependencies, risks, and development increments.

• Preferred: Experience with DoD Real Property programs, business processes, data, or supporting information systems, including knowledge of installation-level Real Property management and related data environments.

• Preferred: Active clearance or current eligibility for access to restricted systems and environments.
