Senior Cybersecurity Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Implement initiatives of the cybersecurity team that align with the program's PQC goals.

• Develop and uphold security policies and procedures.

• Collect and organize technical data regarding the organization's missions, objectives, requirements, security products, and Information Assurance programs.

• Create and deliver documentation for PQC assessments and evaluations.

• Collaborate with clients to define roadmaps, strategies, and methods for the implementation of comprehensive cybersecurity solutions.

• Facilitate agency-wide communication efforts to promote program and capability acceptance.

• Organize and conduct stakeholder meetings on behalf of the PQC team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or 4+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.

• Active Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification.

• Over 5 years of experience in cybersecurity functions relevant to this position.

• Experience in designing and implementing enterprise cybersecurity capabilities.

• Strong understanding of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) concepts and quantum-vulnerability risks.

• Ability to monitor and interpret changing federal cybersecurity policies and regulatory requirements, including FISMA, NIST guidance, and OMB directives.

• General knowledge of PKI, TLS, and cryptographic inventory/discovery concepts, including ACDI tools.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Proven experience in producing technical documentation for both technical and executive audiences.

• Experience coordinating with various stakeholder groups within a large, complex organization.

• Strong self-directed research capabilities.

• Proactive attitude and comfort in navigating ambiguity.

• Ability to analyze intricate requirements and convert them into clear, actionable tasks and processes.

• Applicants must be U.S. citizens in compliance with federal contract stipulations.

• Previous experience directly supporting a PQC or a broader cryptographic modernization initiative is advantageous.

• Practical experience with cryptographic discovery/inventory tools is a plus.

• Hands-on experience with on-premises/enterprise PKI architecture, TLS migration, or certificate/key management is beneficial.

• Familiarity with cloud security concepts in AWS and Azure environments is advantageous.

• Awareness of NIST FIPS 203, FIPS 204, FIPS 205, and OMB Memorandum M-23-02 is beneficial.

• Previous experience supporting a federal civilian agency IT program is a plus.

• Experience with Zero Trust Architecture initiatives is beneficial.
