Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, implement, and sustain cybersecurity solutions for both enterprise IT and cloud environments.

• Offer specialized knowledge in security architecture, security engineering, and cloud security throughout the system lifecycle.

• Convert customer needs, mission objectives, and cybersecurity requirements into actionable technical and engineering specifications.

• Assist in managing IT and cloud design, security, development, systems engineering, integration, and implementation initiatives.

• Assess system architectures and technical solutions to uncover cybersecurity vulnerabilities, security deficiencies, and opportunities for enhancement.

• Create and propose security architecture and engineering solutions that comply with federal cybersecurity regulations and industry best practices.

• Facilitate federal Assessment and Authorization (A&A) and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.

• Apply and evaluate cybersecurity requirements in accordance with RMF and FedRAMP standards.

• Aid in the development, execution, and evaluation of security controls across both traditional and cloud-based settings.

• Generate and maintain technical and security documentation for system authorization and compliance efforts.

• Collaborate with government stakeholders, system owners, architects, engineers, developers, and cybersecurity teams.

• Identify, assess, and address cybersecurity vulnerabilities and technical security threats.

• Ensure systems comply with relevant federal cybersecurity policies, processes, standards, and frameworks.

• Provide technical direction and cybersecurity engineering advice to project teams, program leaders, and government stakeholders.

• Promote continuous enhancement of security architecture, system resilience, compliance, and cybersecurity posture.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in Information Security, including a minimum of 1 year in Cybersecurity and Cloud Security supporting a large government agency similar in size and scope to GSA, IRS, DoD, or VA.

• Proven expertise in security architecture and security engineering.

• Experience in project management and translating customer needs into technical specifications.

• Background in managing or supporting IT and cloud design, security, development, systems engineering, and implementation efforts.

• Proficiency with cybersecurity and security solutions in federal and/or commercial contexts.

• Experience in federal Assessment and Authorization (A&A) and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.

• In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity architecture, engineering, and authorization standards, including FedRAMP and RMF.

• Strong understanding of applicable federal cybersecurity policies, processes, standards, and frameworks.

• Capability to evaluate intricate technical environments, recognize security risks, and formulate practical engineering solutions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a High-Risk Public Trust clearance.

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration - Business Management, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Information Security, Information Resource Management, or a related field.

• Certification in one or more of IAT Level III, IAM Level III, or IASAE Level III.

• IAT III, IAM III, or IASAE III certification may substitute for the relevant bachelor’s degree requirement or four years of pertinent experience, as allowed by the position requirements.
