This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish and oversee ACiS and FACTS engineering quality strategies, liaising with HVDC PEM to guarantee adherence to EMH guidelines.
• Oversee technical coordination across various project work packages.
• Work in conjunction with the HVDC Product Delivery Group in Stafford, UK to develop technically and economically viable HVDC solutions.
• Be responsible for the timing and quality of project outputs within the PDG/SL scope.
• Act as the primary technological representative for the business throughout the Inquiry to Order phase.
• Create technical solutions, configurations, performance assessments, and economic evaluations during pre-ITO activities.
• Offer technical assistance for subcontractor and power equipment bidding processes.
• Direct and coordinate the technical components of AC and DC power substation projects.
• Manage technical interfaces for GSI/SL/PDG solution integration.
• Guide engineers and designers while collaborating with sourcing and project teams regarding specifications, costs, and timelines.
• Ensure engineering solutions align with customer technical specifications.
• Maintain the reference solution and oversee modifications through change control processes.
• Review engineering documentation to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Supervise the physical design, layouts, drawings, equipment, cabling, grounding, control buildings, studies, calculations, and bills of material for outdoor substations.
• Coordinate a clause-by-clause analysis to ensure compliance with HVDC product solutions.
• Generate Engineer, Procure, & Construct estimates for utility, industrial, renewable, FACTS, HVDC, systems, communications, and BOP projects.
• Draft specifications for high-voltage equipment and material purchase requests.
• Assess vendor quotations and formulate subcontracted engineering scopes of work.
• Assist in customer presentations showcasing technical capabilities and proposals.
• Develop, monitor, and track engineering schedules and deliverables.
• Lead Gate and Design Reviews.
• Produce proposals, technical specifications, design-hour and material estimates, vendor quotation support, drawing requirements, clarifications, exceptions, and technical responses.
• Aid in defining and validating the PDG engineering design quality plan.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution (BSEE is highly preferred).
• A minimum of ten years' experience in ACiS systems, FACTS, or HV & EHV substation design in industrial, renewable, or utility sectors.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
• Proven ability to lead a team and take responsibility for its results.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time, including international travel.
• Must adhere to company travel and tax regulations.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
• A Professional Engineering License in the United States or Canada is preferred.
• Extensive experience in EPC engineering related to T&D, Power Generation, or Oil & Gas is preferred.
• Familiarity with civil work, plant configurations, control and protection hardware, system and performance studies, or electrical design is preferred.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, and NERC CIP standards and codes is preferred.
• Understanding of the technical standards of Independent System Operators and utilities is preferred.
• Proficiency in computer skills, automation tools, software development, CAD software, and/or 3D CAD/BIM applications is preferred.
• Fifteen years of experience in T&D substation/power delivery systems engineering and project management is preferred.
• Knowledge of battery sizing, DC systems, transformers, circuit breakers, circuit protection, cables, bus, insulators, arrestors, grounding, and lightning protection is preferred.
• Understanding of load flow, short-circuit, and insulation coordination studies is preferred.
• Experience in GIS and AIS substation projects is preferred.
• Field testing and commissioning experience is preferred.
• Proficient in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Ability to develop and implement standards and structured quality programs.
• Capability to certify engineering automation output post-tool development.
