This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a senior legal advisor for Blackbaud’s global payments divisions.

• Provide guidance on product design, market expansion, and operational choices for both domestic and international payment services.

• Draft and negotiate intricate agreements with payment processors, financial institutions, networks, technology providers, clients, and strategic partners.

• Offer counsel on payment regulations and industry standards, including money transmission, card network rules, electronic payments, anti-money laundering, sanctions, consumer protection, and cross-border fund flow.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Finance, Treasury, Risk, and Compliance teams to create payment solutions and scalable compliance strategies.

• Assist with global treasury and settlement operations, regulatory assessments, and ongoing enhancements within the Law Department.

• Oversee specialized external counsel as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of pertinent legal experience, including substantial involvement with payments, fintech, financial services, or another highly regulated technological setting.

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

• Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.

• Experience in advising on complex payment products, commercial agreements, and regulatory issues across various jurisdictions, including cross-border payments or international fund flow.

• Strong commercial judgment and capacity to translate complex legal requirements into clear, practical guidance for senior business and technical stakeholders.

• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical abilities.

• Capability to work autonomously, prioritize competing demands, and evaluate legal and compliance implications of emerging technologies, including AI-driven tools.
