This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Act as the primary point of contact for the Legal team by managing intake, prioritizing, and directing requests, monitoring progress, and ensuring completion.
β’ Spearhead the implementation of Nex's inaugural Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system, encompassing workflow design, template creation, approval routing, integration with finance and e-signatures, and reporting functionalities.
β’ Develop contract lifecycle processes for drafting assistance, redlining coordination, approvals, execution, document storage, and renewal tracking.
β’ Create libraries for templates and playbooks for frequently used agreement types.
β’ Set up signature and approval workflows, guidelines for delegation of authority, administer e-signatures, and coordinate notarization processes.
β’ Manage Nex's library of employment-related forms, ensuring templates are up-to-date.
β’ Assist with corporate governance tasks, including preparation of board and committee materials, minutes, written consents, minute books, equity documentation, and corporate records.
β’ Oversee legal aspects related to international entities, including formations, dissolutions, foreign qualifications, registered agents, and local filings.
β’ Manage trademark and brand licensing docketing while maintaining the trademark portfolio calendar.
β’ Facilitate relationships with vendors and outside counsel, including onboarding, monitoring billing, budget tracking, and performance evaluations.
β’ Develop legal knowledge management systems and document repositories while establishing a records retention policy.
β’ Create legal metrics and reports concerning request volume, cycle times, contract turnaround, and expenditures on outside counsel.
β’ Identify prospects for utilizing AI and automation in contract review, intake triage, and self-service functionalities.
β’ Collaborate across departments to streamline Legal operations.
β’ Assist in the operations of the Trust & Safety program, covering policy lifecycle management, project management, risk tracking, governance, metrics, documentation, vendor management, and coordination.
β’ 5-7+ years of experience in legal operations, corporate/contracts paralegal work, or a comparable operational role.
β’ Ideally, experience should include time spent at a high-growth startup or in a consumer products/hardware company.
β’ Experience managing a CLM or similar workflow system, such as Ironclad, SpotDraft, DocuSign CLM, or an equivalent.
β’ Background in supporting corporate governance at a private company, preferably with multi-entity or international structures.
β’ Ability to engage in intake triage, contract drafting support, governance, entity management, insurance, and vendor management.
β’ Strong project management and organizational capabilities.
β’ Exceptional judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
β’ Excellent cross-functional communication abilities.
β’ A keen interest in leveraging AI tools within legal operations.
β’ Experience in consumer hardware, consumer electronics, gaming, or children's products is a plus.
β’ Familiarity with retail and distribution contracts, brand/IP licensing agreements, or international expansion and entity establishment is advantageous.
β’ Experience in supporting fundraising, board of directors, or investor reporting processes is beneficial.
β’ A Notary Public commission or willingness to obtain one is a plus.
β’ Exposure to privacy or children's data compliance frameworks, or product safety/import-export compliance, is a plus.
