This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assume responsibility for the review, negotiation, drafting, and management of a diverse array of legal agreements.
• Provide guidance to Twilio’s internal clients regarding contract interpretation and negotiation.
• Promote Twilio’s mission, ethics, and integrity by ensuring adherence to compliance policies that safeguard the company from risks, comply with all relevant local laws and regulations, and align with Twilio’s core values.
• Endeavor to comprehend the context of Twilio’s customers' positions and the requests made by Twilio’s internal clients. Aim to resolve issues and tackle problems from their viewpoints.
• Assess and prioritize which matters and concerns require your attention at any given moment.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with excellent academic credentials and a proven track record of success as a legal professional.
• Active member of the local State Bar or eligible to register as Registered In-House Counsel.
• Over 6 years of experience in commercial transactions, including at least 4 years focused on negotiating complex technology transactions (e.g., SaaS).
• Experience in supporting a large sales organization.
• Proficiency in structuring, drafting, and negotiating a high volume and diverse range of commercial contracts, including Master Services Agreements, Professional Services Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and more.
• Demonstrated ability to offer entrepreneurial, quick-thinking, pragmatic, and business-oriented advice and recommendations that effectively balance legal risks with business rewards.
• Capable of simplifying complex legal concepts to ensure non-lawyers can grasp the issues and associated risks.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to advocate for a position while maintaining a collaborative and open-minded demeanor.
