This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Offer strategic legal guidance on international growth, entity establishment, market entry strategies, compliance, and assessing risks.
• Provide advice on global privacy and data protection regulations, encompassing cross-border data transfers, user agreements, notifications, privacy impact assessments, vendor agreements, and consent methodologies.
• Integrate regional requirements into overarching global standards while accommodating practical country-specific variations.
• Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs and Product teams on compliance and regulatory strategies for new features and markets.
• Create, sustain, and promote scalable legal templates, guidelines, and operational playbooks.
• Facilitate multi-jurisdictional launches and liaise with external legal counsel across different regions.
• Distill country-specific recommendations into concise, actionable guidance for both technical and non-legal stakeholders.
• Assist with inquiries from regulatory authorities, enforcement issues, risk assessments, and policy interpretation.
• Provide advice related to advertising and promotional compliance, substantiation, and labeling requirements.
• Counsel on global trade compliance, including export control regulations (EAR/ITAR), sanctions/embargoes, customs and import classification (HTS), ECCN and dual-use evaluations, restricted-party screening, and due diligence for distributors/partners.
• Establish and uphold policies, training programs, and controls for cross-border launches and supply chain robustness.
• Develop legal intake processes, triage systems, review pathways, escalation routes, and metrics for enabling business operations, ensuring compliance, and managing risk.
• Over 7 years of pertinent legal experience, particularly in advising on international growth and global privacy or product regulatory issues.
• Proven ability to counsel cross-functional teams (Product, Regulatory, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Operations) in a dynamic environment with practical, business-oriented advice.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (or equivalent international certification in a common law jurisdiction).
• Comprehensive understanding of major global privacy frameworks and mechanisms for cross-border data transfers.
• Knowledge of international consumer and marketing law considerations.
• Capability to convert intricate, multi-regional regulations into practical, product-ready requirements.
• Experience in developing scalable legal processes (templates, playbooks, SLAs), engaging with regulators, and managing external legal counsel across regions.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; adept at simplifying complex concepts for both executive and non-legal audiences.
• In-house experience within a rapidly growing technology or consumer health company is preferred.
• Familiarity with wearable technologies, digital health, connected devices, and/or software-as-a-medical-device regulations is a plus.
• Specific expertise in supporting EU/UK markets is advantageous.
