Senior Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Manage complex, high-stakes civil defense litigation in Florida.

• Engage in matters involving trucking and motor vehicle incidents, premises liability, surgical and medical cases, as well as other intricate liability issues.

• Create persuasive case narratives.

• Independently conduct court appearances, depositions, briefs, and trial proceedings.

• Oversee all aspects of discovery and trial preparation.

• Take significant ownership of cases and advance assignments autonomously.

• Collaborate with Holly Howanitz, Stefani Cogsdale, and attorneys across varying levels of experience.

• Maintain regular communication with clients.

• Foster relationships with current and prospective clients.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior attorneys.

• Engage in case strategy formulation and motion practice.

• Establish and uphold a presence in Central Florida with limited travel requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• An active Florida Bar license is mandatory.

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited institution.

• Must hold a license in your respective state.

• A minimum of 8 years of robust litigation experience, particularly in litigation support, depositions, and trial preparation.

• Capability to manage comprehensive case responsibilities, encompassing all elements of discovery and trial.

• Preferred experience in handling insurance defense cases.

• Familiarity with time management systems is essential.

• Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Ability to think critically and act independently with minimal oversight.

• Exceptional listening, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Professional demeanor and appearance required.

• Strong legal writing abilities.

• Experience with substantive motion practice and discovery is crucial.

• Trial experience is highly regarded.

• Law Review or a proven record of outstanding legal research and writing is especially appealing.
