📋 Description

• Assist in the international business growth of Tandem Diabetes Care across Europe and other regions.

• Act as a strategic legal advisor for international commercial and operational issues.

• Manage intricate legal challenges independently while balancing business goals, patient requirements, and regulatory standards.

• Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret agreements related to distribution, procurement, suppliers, sales, marketing, and commercial partnerships.

• Collaborate with sales, marketing, distribution, and senior leadership to provide practical, risk-based legal counsel.

• Support both direct and distributor markets throughout Europe, the Middle East, and additional international areas.

• Provide advice on commercial, regulatory, product, contractual, privacy, compliance, and operational issues.

• Assist with public procurement and tender opportunities, including NHS and European healthcare purchasing processes.

• Work alongside US-based legal experts in areas such as regulatory, product law, compliance, privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, and employment law.

• Support HR with complex employment and labor law issues and oversee external counsel when necessary.

• Stay informed on advancements in medical device regulation, healthcare reimbursement, digital health, artificial intelligence, data privacy, and related legal frameworks.

• Contribute to improvements in legal processes, training, knowledge sharing, and horizon-scanning initiatives.

• Operate autonomously, prioritize a varied workload, identify significant risks, and develop practical business solutions.

• Report directly to the Vice President of International Legal.


⛳️ Requirements

• A law degree and qualification as a lawyer, solicitor, barrister, or an equivalent legal professional in England and Wales, Switzerland, Germany, or another major European jurisdiction.

• Over 12 years of post-qualification legal experience, including a minimum of 5 years in an in-house commercial legal position.

• Extensive experience in medical devices, diagnostics, healthcare technology, life sciences, or a closely related regulated sector.

• Candidates from the pharmaceutical sector should also possess relevant MedTech or diagnostics experience.

• Strong expertise in commercial contract drafting, negotiation, interpretation, and risk management.

• Experience providing advice to sales, marketing, distribution, procurement, and senior business stakeholders across various jurisdictions and cultures.

• Familiarity with medical device regulations, healthcare reimbursement systems, public procurement and tender processes, data privacy, and emerging digital health regulations.

• A pragmatic, solutions-driven mindset, sound judgment, high integrity, and confidence in working independently with senior stakeholders.

• Proficiency in both English and German.

• French language skills are advantageous but not mandatory.

• Some experience in employment law, contentious matters, intellectual property, or healthcare marketing and promotion would be beneficial.
