This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Report directly to Slate’s Associate General Counsel, Commercial.
• Oversee the complete pre-signature contracting process for a varied range of commercial agreements.
• Provide support for both buy-side and sell-side contracting activities.
• Manage contract intake and the pre-signature workflows that arise from multiple organizational functions.
• Engage in the evaluation, implementation, change management, and utilization of CLM tools.
• Collaborate with legal counsel and business stakeholders while balancing responsiveness with legal risk standards.
• Keep organized records of contracts, control versions, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Draft, review, and edit contracts using approved templates, clause libraries, and standard fallback positions.
• Coordinate negotiation input among Legal, Finance, Tax, Compliance, IT, Engineering, and Service stakeholders.
• Identify deviations from standard terms and escalate them according to established playbooks and approval matrices.
• Enhance and maintain contract templates, clause libraries, contracting playbooks, and negotiation playbooks.
• Manage the Legal contracting SharePoint site or knowledge hub.
• Identify, design, and implement process improvements throughout the contracting workflows.
• Lead the standardization of intake, review, and execution processes.
• Support change management initiatives to enhance the adoption of contracting processes, templates, and tools.
• Collaborate across functions to eliminate inefficiencies in contracting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-6 years of experience in contract management, contract administration, legal operations, or commercial contracting.
• Strong organizational abilities and a capacity to manage multiple complex agreements simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with relationship-building capabilities.
• Familiarity with the automotive or manufacturing industry is a plus.
• Proficient in MS365 suite, SmartSheets, and CLM tools.
• Strong attention to detail and discipline in contract processes.
• Practical understanding of commercial and operational risk in an automotive startup environment.
• Data literacy with the ability to convert contracting metrics into actionable operational insights.
• Comfortable working with legal technologies and workflow systems.
• Capable of guiding non-lawyers through structured contracting processes.
• A mindset focused on continuous improvement.
