This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead the contractual strategy for major Canadian hydroelectric projects from bidding through execution, close-out, and warranty phases.
• Safeguard and enhance GE Vernova's commercial stance through effective contract execution, risk mitigation, and opportunity development.
• Collaborate with project leadership on change management, claims strategy, customer and supplier interactions, and critical commercial decisions.
• Oversee the contractual elements of assigned projects from bid preparation to execution, close-out, and warranty.
• Draft, review, and customize commercial clauses according to project needs and the relevant contractual framework.
• Negotiate and finalize contracts, amendments, and other commercial agreements with customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Ensure project teams comprehend and adhere to contractual obligations.
• Prepare notices, amendments, change submissions, claims, and other contractual communications.
• Analyze contracts to pinpoint risks, opportunities, deviations, and critical watchpoints.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance contract management plans.
• Lead strategies for change management, claims, dispute avoidance, and resolution in collaboration with project leadership and Legal.
• Flow down contractual requirements to agreements with suppliers and subcontractors where applicable.
• Manage contractual notices, changes, claims, disputes, and insurance matters.
• Work with project, commercial, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, finance, sourcing, and other internal stakeholders.
• Advise teams on contractual issues and contribute to decision-making processes.
• Monitor contractual commitments and communicate requirements across projects.
• Participate in risk and opportunity reviews and drive plans for mitigation and opportunity capture.
• Provide contractual risk assessments and updates through governance processes.
• Maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners.
• Mentor and coach less experienced contract management professionals.
• Ensure compliance with contractual terms and document any deviations.
• Maintain traceable contractual records and document key decisions.
• Coordinate major claims with Legal and propose solutions to complex issues.
• Establish procedures for correspondence, notices, insurance, delays, variations, and claims documentation.
• Keep complete and timely contractual records and supporting documentation.
• Create tracking tools for obligations, milestones, and contractual events.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of contract management experience in complex project environments such as EPC, construction, infrastructure, energy, or major industrial sectors.
• Proven ability to compile, structure, negotiate, and draft complex, high-value amendments, changes, and claims.
• Strong understanding of project financial drivers, including costs, margins, risks, opportunities, and cash impact, and how they relate to contract management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Willingness and ability to travel within Canada as necessary.
• Experience in hydropower, power generation, major infrastructure, or complex industrial project environments is preferred.
• Substantial experience managing turnkey or EPC projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with major equipment supply, installation, consortium, or other complex project delivery models is preferred.
• Experience working with utility, public-sector, or major institutional clients in Canada is preferred.
• Proven track record of managing significant claims, dispute avoidance, or dispute matters is preferred.
• Proficiency in the French language is preferred.
