This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead the contractual strategy for major Canadian hydroelectric projects from the bidding phase through execution, close-out, and warranty.
• Safeguard and enhance GE Vernova's commercial standing by executing contracts, mitigating risks, and identifying opportunities.
• Oversee the contractual components of assigned projects from bid preparation to execution, close-out, and warranty.
• Draft, review, and customize commercial clauses in accordance with project specifications and the relevant contractual framework.
• Engage in the negotiation and finalization of contracts, amendments, and commercial agreements with customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Ensure that project teams comprehend and adhere to contractual obligations.
• Prepare notices, amendments, change submissions, claims, and other contractual communications.
• Analyze contracts to pinpoint risks, opportunities, deviations, and critical watchpoints.
• Develop and sustain contract management plans.
• Formulate strategies for managing changes, claims, dispute avoidance, and dispute resolution in collaboration with project leadership and Legal.
• Relay contractual requirements to supplier and subcontractor agreements when necessary.
• Handle contractual notices, changes, claims, disputes, and insurance issues.
• Collaborate with project teams, commercial leaders, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, finance, sourcing, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor contractual commitments and communicate requirements across projects.
• Participate in project risk and opportunity assessments and advance mitigation and opportunity-capture strategies.
• Provide ongoing contractual risk evaluations and updates through governance processes.
• Maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners.
• Mentor and guide less experienced contract management professionals.
• Ensure adherence to contractual compliance and document any deviations.
• Keep traceable contractual records and document key decisions.
• Coordinate major claims with Legal and propose solutions for complex issues.
• Establish procedures for correspondence, notices, insurance, delays, variations, and claims documentation.
• Maintain tracking tools for obligations, milestones, and contractual events.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of contract management experience in complex project settings such as EPC, construction, infrastructure, energy, or other significant industrial sectors.
• Proven ability to compile, structure, negotiate, and draft complex, high-value amendments, changes, and claims.
• Strong understanding of project financial drivers, including costs, margins, risks, opportunities, and cash impact, and their correlation to contract management.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Willingness and ability to travel within Canada as needed.
• Preferred experience in hydropower, power generation, major infrastructure, or other complex industrial project environments.
• Strong background in managing turnkey or EPC projects is preferred.
• Experience with major equipment supply, installation, consortium, or other complex project delivery models is preferred.
• Familiarity with utility, public-sector, or major institutional customers in Canada is preferred.
• Experience in managing significant claims, dispute avoidance, or dispute matters is preferred.
• French language skills are preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership capability and interest in future functional leadership roles are preferred.
• Strong commercial acumen and sound business judgment.
