Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer, Transportation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Promote Ryder’s Continuous Improvement culture throughout operations.

• Implement continuous improvement methodologies to enhance both new and existing operations.

• Recognize and initiate operational changes by leveraging data-driven continuous improvement, engineering, and automation initiatives.

• Utilize data analytics, engineering techniques, and advanced lean tools to pinpoint and eliminate root causes.

• Collaborate with employees across all levels and functions within the operation.

• Gather data, conduct statistical analyses, map and document processes, identify process deficiencies, and propose and execute enhancements.

• Formulate and oversee continuous improvement plans and ensure the execution of transformation strategies.

• Propel process enhancements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development metrics.

• Manage and finalize continuous improvement and steady-state engineering projects.

• Evaluate continuous improvement initiatives and suggest future actions.

• Assist with go-live and steady-state certifications as well as automation projects.

• Maintain regular interactions with operations management and clients.

• Develop and showcase engineering methodologies, lean tools, and quality standards.

• Mentor employees and process owners on continuous improvement and lean principles.

• Employ product slotting, time studies, flow optimization, data profiling, and analysis, as well as resource modeling in transportation operations.

• Facilitate and implement Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, including A3 charter creation, pre-work, results delivery, and follow-up for sustainability.

• Provide regular updates on progress in relation to site objectives.

• Make strategic recommendations for the Supply Chain.

• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience and knowledge in transportation, including transportation modeling, route optimization, and hours of service regulations.

• Analytical mindset with experience in maintaining Power BI dashboards.

• Proficient in Excel and Power BI.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the Transportation or Supply Chain Industry.

• Experience in Transportation Management, Dedicated, FTL, or LTL.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

• Intermediate skills in data visualization and database programming, including Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and DAX preferred.

• Basic functional experience with Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, Management Accountability Systems, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and 5S/Workplace Organization.

• Intermediate understanding of core engineering and data analysis functions, such as slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, and metrics.

• Familiarity with Dedicated Services, Managed Transportation Networks, equipment types, transportation design tools, network design tools, transportation management systems, and mapping software preferred.

• Knowledge of Lean Methodology preferred.

• Supply Chain Logistics Certification preferred.

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Capability to establish professional relationships across various organizational levels.

• Ability to demonstrate flexibility, self-direction, multitasking, organization, and effective time management.

• Skills in system and change implementation.

• Capacity to work independently as well as in a leadership or team role.

• Competence in managing cross-functional CI projects from inception to sustained results.

• Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
