This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Design and oversee the implementation of Red Hat OpenShift infrastructure projects that utilize container and virtualization technologies.
• Develop automated, containerized solutions that emphasize networking, storage, virtualization, security, logging, monitoring, high availability, and system resilience.
• Acquire knowledge and apply concepts related to container orchestration, container registries, container build strategies, cloud storage, and software-defined networks.
• Travel frequently to collaborate with clients in the financial services, retail, telecommunications, and institutional sectors.
• Engage in comprehensive training on Kubernetes, OpenShift, DevOps, and GitOps technologies.
• Construct production-ready container and virtualization platforms that are integrated with enterprise systems.
• Deploy source code into scalable containers and virtual machines using automated enterprise-scale processes.
• Work collaboratively to meet customer requirements using Red Hat OpenShift.
• Translate customer use cases into project plans that align with Red Hat technologies.
• Execute complex, large-scale container platform solutions in demanding customer environments.
• Assist fellow consultants in implementing large-scale IT solutions utilizing container technologies.
• Share lessons learned, best practices, and how-tos with both internal and external communities of practice.
• Integrate new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies into container platforms.
• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related technical field.
• Proven experience leading successful enterprise-level projects on modern cloud platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of Linux (RHEL) and automated hardware provisioning, including BIOS/UEFI, RAID, BMC/Redfish, and Kickstart/Cobbler.
• Advanced understanding of networking concepts: L2/L3, DHCP/DNS, load balancing, CNI (OVN-K, Calico, SR-IOV), and network security/firewall policies.
• Expertise in Kubernetes/OpenShift, including cluster architecture, lifecycle management, bare-metal deployment patterns, Day-2 operations, Operators, and GitOps.
• Proficient in storage solutions covering distributed/local storage, RAID/NVMe, performance tuning, and data management/DR using Velero, OADP, and Ceph/ODF.
• Strong skills in Ansible and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Helm.
• Experience in scripting languages including Bash, Python, and Go.
• Knowledge of Linux/Kubernetes hardening, RBAC, SCC, network policies, TLS/PKI, NIST, and CIS.
• Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills for platforms and networks, including etcd, kernel, and tcpdump.
• Understanding of common add-ons or third-party tools, such as Aria/vRealize Suite, SRM, backup software, and performance analysis tools.
• Extensive technical experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, VM lifecycle operations, VMware logging and alerting, [S/DV]Switches/NSX, Datastores, vSAN, and vVols.
• Experience in one or more industry verticals.
• Ability to lead design workshops, produce clear documentation, and facilitate knowledge transfer for Day-0/1/2 planning.
• Proven strategic advisory experience with senior IT and business executives.
• Practical knowledge and experience working within agile, scrum, and DevOps teams.
• Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations approximately 20–30 weeks per year across North America.
• Must reside in a state where Red Hat is authorized to conduct business.
• Must be located anywhere in the U.S. within close proximity to an airport.
