This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.
• Prepare, assess, and negotiate construction contracts, including those based on NZS 3910, NZS 3916, NZ 3604, Residential Building Contracts, Consultancy Agreements, and Subcontractor Agreements.
• Provide guidance to clients regarding contract procurement strategies.
• Support with contractual claims and interpretation.
• Advise on matters related to regulatory compliance, including security of payment claims, the Construction Contracts Act 2002, the Building Act 2004, Licensed Building Practitioner requirements, and relevant regulations and licensing within the commercial building industry.
• Develop and maintain client relationships as the primary legal contact and trusted advisor.
• Identify opportunities to enhance value and assist clients in achieving business success.
• Contribute to team and business development through articles, external webinars, and training sessions at the LV Academy.
• Work across construction, infrastructure, and commercial matters for small to medium-sized enterprises, medium-sized businesses, and large corporate clients.
• Over 5 years of experience in a reputable legal setting, whether in-house, in private practice, or both.
• Proven experience in front-end construction and infrastructure matters.
• Additional experience with general commercial contracts is highly regarded.
• Strong commercial awareness and a solutions-driven approach.
• Ability to clearly, practically, and commercially communicate complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders.
• Excellent project management capabilities and the ability to manage matters independently while juggling multiple client priorities.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills for fostering trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Capacity to work independently while effectively collaborating within a high-performing team.
