This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Conducts compliance testing, review of testing processes, document preparation, and government forms review for complex retirement plan clients.
• Ensures that assigned plans maintain tax-qualified status by fulfilling IRS and DOL reporting and testing obligations.
• Reports on the financial and accounting activities of plans.
• Prepares and evaluates compliance tests such as non-discrimination, top-heavy, coverage, and 415 annual addition tests.
• Performs and reviews intricate contribution calculations.
• Maintains client databases and updates records in recordkeeping software.
• Executes testing and quality-control audits.
• Submits financial reports and Form 5500 packages for review, correction, approval, and submission.
• Allocates employer contributions for profit-sharing, matching, and money purchase pensions based on plan specifications.
• Coordinates with the administration team to produce distributions or allocations of contributions or forfeitures.
• Reviews legal plan documents and employee information to assess participant eligibility.
• Reconciling and reviewing financial activities while preparing government forms.
• Consults with clients and implements solutions for their issues.
• Monitors changes in legislation, IRS rulings, and expert opinions that impact retirement plan processing.
• Investigates new issues and communicates their effects on plan qualification status.
• Acts as a technical resource for compliance analysts.
• Coordinates year-end processing with Relationship Managers and Client Service Managers.
• Leads projects aimed at process improvements and assists in training on new procedures.
• Composes reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; presents information and addresses inquiries.
• Supports less experienced Compliance Analysts in their daily tasks.
• Applies advanced mathematical principles using spreadsheet and accounting database software.
• Utilizes technical skills and available tools to resolve compliance challenges.
• Collaborates with team members and shares expertise.
• Embraces emerging technologies, including AI and automation.
• Undertakes other related tasks as assigned.
• 8 years of progressive experience in plan administration within a third-party environment.
• Successful completion of the ASPPA RPF-1 and RPF-2 exams for designation.
• Knowledgeable in controlled groups, cross testing, catch-up contributions, and other current technical matters.
• Advanced understanding of retirement plan tax law (ERISA), including relevant sections of the Revenue Code such as 401(a)(4), 416, 414(b), (c), (m), and (n).
• Strong proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or relevant industry experience preferred but not mandatory.
• QKA designation is a plus.
• ASC designation preferred.
• Capable of applying advanced mathematical concepts.
• Proficient in using spreadsheet and accounting database software.
• Skilled in performing detailed financial reconciliations and data analysis.
• Ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic environment.
• Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.
• Less than 5% travel required.
• Travel requirements are less than 5%.
