This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assign DRGs, APCs, ICD-10, and CPT codes to all types of patient accounts.

• Code and abstract a diverse range of inpatient cases.

• Code outpatient cases including clinical, emergency room, same-day surgery, and observation scenarios.

• Conduct coding under general supervision, adhering to AHA and UHDDS guidelines.

• Promote patient-centered, holistic care at St. Mary Medical Center.

⛳️ Requirements

• At the time of hire: National Certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders, or an AHIMA credential such as National Certified Coding Associate, National Certified Coding Specialist, National Registered Health Information Administrator, or National Registered Health Information Technician.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in CPT and ICD-10-CM coding within an acute care hospital setting.

• Preferred: Associate's Degree in Medical Record Technology.

• Preferred: Completion of a certified coding program with comprehensive coursework in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease processes, and pharmacology.

• Preferred: 3 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care environment.

• Preferred: Background in other clinical or healthcare areas.

• Capability to code in accordance with AHA and UHDDS guidelines.
