Senior COBOL Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain systems utilizing COBOL DB2, COBOL CICS, and COBOL Batch, ensuring optimal performance and stability of processes.

• Manage sequential and VSAM files, guaranteeing data integrity and efficient read/write operations.

• Develop and execute JCL (Job Control Language) to oversee jobs and processes within a mainframe setting.

• Employ Roscoe to edit and manage code and data in a mainframe environment.

• Generate test scenarios to validate code quality and confirm that deliverables align with stakeholders’ expectations.

• Implement code version control methodologies using Git, ensuring effective version management and traceability.

• Create COBOL programs without a user interface and seamlessly integrate them with APIs via z/OS Connect.

• Contribute to the utilization of containers for the development and testing of COBOL programs, integrating them into a contemporary DevOps framework.

• Uphold a high standard of quality and meticulousness in analysis, documentation, and coding, ensuring that all work is clean, comprehensible, non-redundant, and standardized.

• Communicate in a clear, concise, and objective manner.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive expertise in COBOL DB2, COBOL CICS, and COBOL Batch development.

• Familiarity with handling sequential and VSAM files.

• Proficiency in JCL and Roscoe within a mainframe context.

• Proven ability to create and execute test scenarios to guarantee the delivery of top-quality code.

• Experience with code version control through Git.

• Knowledge of developing COBOL programs without a user interface and integrating them with APIs using z/OS Connect.

• Understanding of containerization for development and testing in COBOL environments.

• Background in DevOps and CI/CD environments.

• Awareness of legacy system modernization techniques.

• Practical experience using Freshservice.
