Senior Cloud & Platform Engineer – AWS/Kubernetes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary.

📋 Description

• Design, manage, and continuously enhance production cloud infrastructure, primarily utilizing AWS.

• Evaluate existing cloud setups, pinpoint architectural or operational vulnerabilities, and suggest actionable improvements.

• Engage extensively with Kubernetes in production settings, contributing to platform architecture, reliability, and scalability.

• Create and sustain infrastructure using Terraform and other Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies.

• Develop and optimize infrastructure automation, including configuration management utilizing tools such as Ansible.

• Enhance platform reliability, resilience, observability, and security.

• Identify avenues to minimize manual operational tasks through automation.

• Participate in cloud and Kubernetes architecture decisions and introduce pertinent engineering best practices.

• Assist in troubleshooting, incident investigation, and root-cause analysis across production environments.

• Create scripts and internal automation using programming languages such as Python, Bash, Java, or similar as needed.

• Engage in technical discussions with clients, translating requirements and infrastructure topics into clear technical solutions.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to guarantee that infrastructure and reliability considerations are integrated throughout the development lifecycle.

• Share knowledge, constructively challenge existing methodologies, and contribute to elevating engineering standards within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior-level experience in Cloud, Platform, DevOps, Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering.

• Strong practical expertise with AWS, including a comprehensive understanding of AWS architecture and best practices.

• Capability to assess an existing AWS environment and independently recommend enhancements related to architecture, reliability, automation, or security.

• Advanced experience with Kubernetes in production is essential.

• Solid hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

• Familiarity with infrastructure and configuration automation; experience with Ansible is highly relevant.

• Strong understanding of principles related to production infrastructure, scalability, availability, and reliability.

• Experience with monitoring, observability, and troubleshooting in distributed production environments.

• Knowledge of cloud and infrastructure security best practices.

• Experience with CI/CD and contemporary cloud-native delivery methodologies.

• Scripting or programming capability for infrastructure automation; extensive software engineering expertise is not necessary.

• Experience in responding to production issues and performing structured root-cause analysis.

• Ability to take ownership, recognize weaknesses, and proactively implement improvements instead of merely maintaining existing systems.

• Strong communication skills and confidence in participating in customer-facing technical discussions.

• Professional working proficiency in English (C1+).
