Senior Cloud & Platform Engineer, AWS, Kubernetes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Croatia.

📋 Description

• Design, manage, and enhance production cloud infrastructure, primarily utilizing AWS.

• Evaluate current cloud environments, pinpoint architectural or operational weaknesses, and suggest actionable improvements.

• Engage extensively with Kubernetes in live environments, contributing to the platform's architecture, reliability, and scalability.

• Construct and maintain infrastructure utilizing Terraform and other Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies.

• Develop and refine infrastructure automation, including configuration management through tools such as Ansible.

• Enhance platform reliability, resilience, observability, and security.

• Identify opportunities to minimize manual operational tasks through automation.

• Contribute to decisions regarding cloud and Kubernetes architecture while introducing pertinent engineering best practices.

• Assist in troubleshooting, incident investigation, and root-cause analysis in production environments.

• Create scripts and internal automation using programming languages such as Python, Bash, Java, or similar when applicable.

• Engage in technical discussions with clients, translating requirements and infrastructure topics into clear technical solutions.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that infrastructure and reliability considerations are embedded throughout the development lifecycle.

• Share knowledge, constructively challenge existing methods, and help elevate engineering standards within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Senior-level experience in Cloud, Platform, DevOps, Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering.

• Strong hands-on expertise with AWS, encompassing a comprehensive understanding of AWS architecture and best practices.

• Capability to assess an existing AWS environment and independently recommend enhancements in architecture, reliability, automation, or security.

• Advanced production experience with Kubernetes is essential.

• Proficient hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

• Familiarity with infrastructure and configuration automation; Ansible experience is particularly relevant.

• Solid understanding of production infrastructure, alongside principles of scalability, availability, and reliability.

• Experience with monitoring, observability, and troubleshooting in distributed production environments.

• Knowledge of cloud and infrastructure security best practices.

• Familiarity with CI/CD and modern cloud-native delivery methodologies.

• Scripting or programming skills for infrastructure automation; extensive software engineering expertise is not a prerequisite.

• Experience in responding to production issues and performing structured root-cause analysis.

• Ability to take ownership, identify weaknesses, and proactively implement improvements rather than merely maintaining existing systems.

• Strong communication skills and confidence in participating in customer-facing technical discussions.

• Professional working proficiency in English (C1+).
