Senior Cloud Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Supervise the delivery of network architecture and implementations for clients.

• Design, implement, support, and troubleshoot network security infrastructures and segmentation deployments.

• Implement and maintain micro-segmentation policies, application dependency mapping, rule-set creation, and enforcement across hybrid workloads.

• Create and support segmentation architectures to strengthen security posture and minimize lateral movement risks.

• Implement and maintain firewalls, monitor vulnerabilities, and optimize network security devices and segmentation platforms.

• Modify firewall rule sets, segmentation rules, security policies, whitelisting, and content filtering.

• Establish and adjust site-to-site VPNs and secure connectivity paths for segmented workloads.

• Manage threat protection, URL blocking, IOC feeds, routers, switches, segmentation policies, and endpoint enforcement controls.

• Monitor the health, performance, and capacity of firewall and segmentation agents across global environments.

• Engage in change management, peer reviews, and the validation and execution of firewall or segmentation modifications.

• Develop build and test plans for firewall and segmentation deployments.

• Collaborate with security, cloud, data center, and application teams on standardized configurations and enforcement practices.

• Suggest enhancements to improve reliability, segmentation accuracy, security posture, and operational performance.

• Define reusable network and micro-segmentation patterns for branch, data center, and cloud environments.

• Document segmentation deployments, firewall standards, policy frameworks, and configuration baselines.

• Automate policy pushes, firewall rules, and segmentation updates using Ansible, Terraform, and Python.

• Design, support, and troubleshoot wireless networks.

• Work with TCP/IP, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, and east-west traffic considerations.

• Participate in disaster recovery exercises and validate segmented application recovery paths.

• Resolve complex technical escalations and engage in incident and problem management.

• Design and implement cloud network architectures utilizing segmentation and zero-trust principles.

• Collaborate globally with IT teams to address issues and align network and segmentation solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in network architecture or design, focusing on global infrastructure.

• Over 8 years of hands-on networking and network security support.

• Experience with micro-segmentation tools such as Illumio and Guardicore, including policy creation, enforcement, and application dependency mapping.

• Strong understanding of firewalls, segmentation frameworks, WAN, SD-WAN, network protocols, subnetting, VPNs, QoS, and zero-trust concepts.

• Experience with cloud network architecture across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

• Expertise in network hardware such as Cisco and Palo Alto, as well as segmentation agents.

• Experience operating at an enterprise scale across WAN, LAN, data center, cloud, and segmented environments.

• Ability to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

• Strong knowledge of network security best practices and segmentation strategies.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a global team.

• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Panorama, and security profiles.

• Experience with Illumio segmentation, Guardicore segmentation, or similar platforms.

• Cloud networking experience with AWS and Azure, including routing, firewalling, and segmentation.

• Strong troubleshooting skills for Palo Alto and segmentation agents.

• Experience implementing global network and segmentation solutions.

• Experience deploying firewalls and segmentation in cloud, data center, and edge environments.

• Knowledge of ITIL processes and change management.

• Proven track record of global network designs, firewall/security implementations, and segmentation projects.
