This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Utilize specialized clinical expertise to categorize, code, summarize, interpret, and calculate registry/case information from patient medical records.
• Guarantee precise data submission to designated registries or measurement data repositories.
• Prioritize, organize, and fulfill multiple simultaneous tasks and team requests within tight deadlines.
• Manage expectations, identify obstacles, and suggest timely solutions.
• Navigate through electronic medical records and registry/case-entry tools effectively.
• Resolve technical issues with systems and applications by leveraging team resources.
• Contribute to team best practices, data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and business-rule documentation.
• Recognize process enhancements to optimize tasks and workflows.
• Remain updated on mandated regulatory and publicly reported data requirements.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Minimum of 1 year of direct clinical surveillance experience abstracting hospital-acquired infections within the past year.
• At least 1 year of direct clinical surveillance experience with CIC within the last calendar year.
• Active CIC certification is preferred.
• Direct clinical experience as an Infection Preventionist.
• Credentials such as RN, LPN, RT, RVT, or RCIS.
• Familiarity with multiple patient medical record systems (EMRs) and clinical databases.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
• High standards for accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
• Technologically proficient and eager to learn new systems and technologies.
• Capability to work independently and take ownership of projects/patient records.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration with hospital partners, peers, team leads, and others.
• Strong self-organization and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and adjust to changing timelines and priorities.
• Adaptability to evolving timelines, requirements, and project assignments.
