Senior Clinical Data Abstractor – Temp to Hire

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review, interpret, and abstract clinical patient information from EHR systems, paper charts, and various source documents.

• Utilize medical coding systems such as ICD-10, MedDRA, CPT, and HCPCS to categorize clinical data into standardized machine-readable formats.

• Employ REDCap, registries, and custom EDC systems to input, monitor, and uphold the integrity of clinical data.

• Assist cross-functional teams in translating clinical data abstraction and encoding needs.

• Aid in the engineering and design of AI and LLM initiatives.

• Implement clinical data management practices and adhere to good clinical practice standards during abstraction and encoding.

• Support complete ETL workflows.

• Conduct quality assurance using macros, Excel/Google Sheets functions, formulas, and pivot tables.

• Carry out peer reviews of medical record data to meet quality and productivity standards.

• Adhere to project protocols, IRB requirements, HIPAA regulations, data management best practices, and organizational privacy policies.

• Engage in the development and refinement of abstraction guidelines, tools, and standard operating procedures.

• Submit daily, weekly, or monthly abstraction reports along with productivity metrics.

• Participate in team meetings and workshops.

• Undertake other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. licensed Nurse, PA-C, NP, or DNP is required.

• Master’s degree in health sciences is required.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, particularly cancer, standard clinical workflows, and genetic testing.

• A minimum of 4–5 years of experience in clinical data abstraction and medical records review.

• Preferably experienced in cancer, women’s health, or rare diseases.

• Capability to read, interpret, and abstract intricate clinical information from both electronic and paper medical records.

• Direct experience with clinical data encoding using ICD-10-CM and SNOMED CT.

• Proven experience in data mapping, standardization, and harmonization.

• Commitment to data integrity, quality control, HIPAA compliance, and other data privacy regulations.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite.

• Ability to create pivot tables, generate reports, and perform data analysis.

• Experience with clinical data systems or databases, including fillable forms, ECDs, and data registries.

• CCDM, CCRP, ACR-P, or CRA certification is preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven ability to collaborate with both clinical and non-clinical teams.

• Capability to work independently, manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet strict productivity and quality deadlines.

• Strong initiative and self-motivation.

• Ability to work collaboratively on high-visibility projects with frequent communication.
