Senior Clinical Data Abstractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review, interpret, and summarize clinical patient information from EHR systems, paper charts, and various source documents.

• Utilize medical coding systems such as ICD-10, MedDRA, CPT, and HCPCS to categorize clinical data into standardized machine-readable formats.

• Employ REDCap, registries, and custom EDC systems for the entry, tracking, and management of clinical data.

• Assist cross-functional teams in clarifying clinical and data abstraction needs.

• Contribute to prompt engineering and design for AI and LLM projects.

• Implement clinical data management practices and good clinical practices during abstraction and encoding for comprehensive ETL workflows.

• Conduct quality assurance using technical and analytical software, macros, Excel/Google Sheets functions, formulas, and pivot tables.

• Perform peer reviews to ensure adherence to quality and productivity standards.

• Comply with project protocols, IRB mandates, HIPAA regulations, data management best practices, and patient privacy policies.

• Assist in the development and enhancement of abstraction and quality guidelines, tools, and standard operating procedures.

• Deliver timely daily, weekly, or monthly abstraction submissions and productivity reports.

• Engage in team meetings and workshops.

• Maintain relevant clinical or technical licenses.

• Undertake other assigned tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a U.S.-licensed Nurse, PA-C, NP, or DNP.

• A Master’s degree in health sciences is required.

• In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes (particularly cancer), standard clinical workflows, and genetic testing.

• A minimum of 4–5 years of experience in clinical data abstraction and medical records review.

• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and abstract intricate clinical information from electronic and paper medical records.

• Direct experience with clinical data encoding using ICD-10-CM and SNOMED CT.

• Hands-on experience with data mapping, standardization, and harmonization.

• Strong commitment to data integrity, quality control, HIPAA, and other data privacy regulations.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite, including pivot tables, reporting, data analysis, and clinical data systems or databases.

• CCDM, CCRP, ACR-P, or CRA certifications are preferred.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Capable of working independently, managing time effectively, prioritizing and organizing tasks, and meeting productivity and quality deadlines.

• High level of initiative and self-motivation.

• Ability to collaborate as part of a team on high-visibility projects.

• Strong attention to detail and quick learning ability.
