Senior Claims & Litigation Paralegal – Transportation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and provide support for litigation and claims related to commercial-auto bodily injury, catastrophic loss, property damage, and transportation.

• Facilitate immediate preservation of evidence following major incidents, including driver qualification and personnel records, ELD/HOS data, telematics/GPS, ECM data, dashcam/video footage, maintenance and inspection records, dispatch communications, bills of lading, photographs, police reports, and witness information.

• Analyze accident reports, demand packages, medical documentation, and claim files while preparing litigation chronologies.

• Under the guidance of an attorney, draft initial versions of answers, responses, affidavits or declarations, notices, motions, and other legal documents.

• Support the process of interrogatories, requests for production or admission, subpoenas, discovery, document collection, and legal holds.

• Create exhibits, summaries of documents and medical records, materials for depositions and mediations, and trial binders.

• Keep thorough litigation files and calendars, monitoring deadlines for pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediations, motions, and trials.

• Maintain concise case summaries outlining allegations, damages, exposure, defense strategies, deadlines, and subsequent actions.

• Collaborate with external counsel, oversee case strategies, budgets, and deadlines, and assist in reviewing invoices and litigation expenses from outside counsel.

• Coordinate with Claims, Safety, Operations, Maintenance, Insurance/Risk Management, and other relevant departments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in litigation, claims, or as a senior paralegal.

• Strong preference for experience in trucking or transportation litigation, commercial-auto liability, catastrophic loss, or insurance defense.

• Desirable experience with a motor carrier, insurer, third-party administrator, self-insured transportation company, or transportation defense law firm.

• Extensive knowledge of U.S. litigation and discovery processes.

• Proficiency in legal drafting.

• Skills in docket and file management.

• Familiarity with trucking evidence and FMCSA-related documentation.
