Senior C++/C Software Developer – Independent Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Transition 32-bit call handling C++ subsystems to a 64-bit framework

• Create scripts and methodologies for migrating operating systems from CentOS 7 to RedHat Enterprise Linux 9

• Assist in the modernization of Java-based web configurators

• Engage in testing and the release process of the migrated system

• Revise CI/CD pipelines and other DevOps tools to facilitate the migration initiative

• Conduct security assessments and implement necessary remediations

• Support the telecommunications client's essential call handling platform development team

• Collaborate with a seasoned engineering team while advancing platform modernization in accordance with a structured migration plan

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in developing C++ applications on Linux platforms

• A minimum of 5 years in Linux operating system development and bash scripting

• Strong technical understanding of networking, virtualization, and security

• Legally authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship

• Capable of contracting directly with a Canadian entity as either a corporation or sole proprietor

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

• Ability to effectively collaborate with an established engineering team

• Preferred: experience with multi-threaded, high-availability real-time systems

• Preferred: familiarity with other Linux operating system migrations

• Preferred: knowledge of agentic AI techniques in software engineering

• Preferred: skills in Python, Java, or C#

• Preferred: understanding of CI/CD and DevOps toolchains such as TeamCity, Perforce, Jenkins, or GitHub

• Preferred: experience with voice infrastructure and telephony, including SIP, PBX, and PSTN
