Senior Category Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for assigned categories.

• Strategically oversee indirect spending through a sourcing process that involves cross-enterprise stakeholders.

• Serve as a subject matter expert regarding business requirements and supply and demand markets.

• Analyze global category or service market trends, communicating opportunities and proposed action plans to Executive Management.

• Design and lead annual cost-saving initiatives, achieving year-over-year cost reductions.

• Prepare requests for proposals for designated materials and services.

• Conduct proposal analysis, price evaluations, Should Cost modeling, and benchmarking.

• Establish cost targets and negotiation strategies; negotiate and implement supply agreements.

• Oversee supplier selection, alternative-source qualification, supply-base rationalization, and related optimization strategies.

• Manage supplier relationships, including KPIs, audits, business reviews, improvement plans, innovation initiatives, awards, terminations, savings tracking, and stakeholder communication.

• Address supplier or product-related issues from inception to resolution.

• Set department goals, KPIs, and policies in collaboration with the Director.

• Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports, partnering with Human Resources on employee matters.

• Create schedules and performance requirements; responsible for hiring and terminating direct reports.

• Develop employee growth plans and support succession planning.

• Collaborate with Procurement and Global Strategic Procurement to ensure alignment of procurement strategies.

• Perform other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required.

• BS/BA Degree required; Life Sciences preferred.

• 8+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing/category management with direct or indirect sourcing responsibility.

• 3+ years of supervisory experience.

• Thorough understanding of Category Management methodology and its application.

• Extensive experience managing sourcing projects from initiation to completion.

• eSourcing experience is required.

• Proficiency in SAP is a plus.

• Demonstrated ability to execute and achieve cost reduction improvements.

• Proficient in MS Office applications, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint.

• Moderate to complex financial analysis knowledge, including business modeling and problem-solving skills.

• Experience in negotiating pricing, contract terms and conditions, including statements of work (SOWs).

• Experience in providing project management and team leadership for sourcing initiative stakeholders.

• Skills in strategic planning, critical thinking, decision-making, analytical reasoning, negotiation, influencing, collaboration, and general leadership.

• MBA preferred.

• Advanced negotiation skills courses are a plus.
